You’re invited to celebrate this year’s Reed Award winners with us.
Join us virtually for the 2025 Reed Award ceremony, as our in-person event has SOLD OUT.
An award ceremony will be held in honor of the winners during the Virginia Festival of the Book. This event is SOLD OUT for in-person attendance; however, we invite you to register to attend the live stream. It will be held at 5 p.m. on March 21, in the CODE Building, located at 225 West Water Street on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Va.
This year’s event will include reflections from our winners: Jonathan Mingle, who will discuss his book “Gaslight: The Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Fight for America’s Energy Future”, and Jared Kofsky, Maia Rosenfeld, and Steve Osunsami from ABC News, who will present insights from their two-part story, “Our Inheritance is Washing Away”.
Through their work, winners Jonathan Mingle, Jared Kofsky, Maia Rosenfeld, and Steve Osunsami demonstrate the power of writing to capture some of the most important environmental issues facing Southern communities.
2025 Reed Award Featured Speaker
Tim Kaine—current U.S. Senator representing Virginia, former Governor of Virginia, Richmond mayor, and civil rights attorney, and longtime outdoor enthusiast—will be this year’s featured speaker. His latest book is a compelling account of one man’s journey across hundreds of miles of Virginia wilderness and a moving testament to the optimistic spirit of America. “Walk Ride Paddle” provides an unseen glimpse into a life outside.
The first 400 to register will receive a free copy of Jonathan Mingle’s book.
In-person registrants will receive their free book at the event; copies will be mailed to the first 400 virtual registrants—available while supplies last.
Thank you and we look forward to celebrating our winners with you. Those unable to attend in-person can stream the award ceremony online through a link provided ahead of the event.
